The Seven Minute Micro-Actions

The theme of the book, The Seven Minute Difference, is that "Change happens in an instant!" It happens the moment you decide to change. Micro-actions are the tiny choices people make every moment of every day that make the difference between mediocrity and excellence. To support progress toward change, we have created lists of micro-actions you can implement in your daily life.

Is your attention span longer than seven minutes?

Studies have shown that the average person has an attention span of seven minutes. With that in mind, Seven Minutes Inc. has developed various training workshops that are broken down into seven minute increments. (The attendees are not aware of this incredible feat until halfway through the program.)

This workshop is filled with specific ideas built around the belief that change really can happen in an instant.

There are several underlying truths that create the framework for this workshop.

1. Change happens in an instant!
2. You must want to change
3. You must be ready to change
4. You should enjoy the journey

One of the main obstacles to change is that many people believe change is too hard and it will require too much effort and too much time. We disagree. We believe if you are willing to implement some of the smallest changes into your life, your life can change in monumental increments. A micro-action is the concept of how a tiny action or effort can make an enormous difference in the outcome.

Examples of some micro-actions that many of you could immediately place into your daily life might include:

  • make two extra sales calls per day
  • write down a daily plan of action
  • drink 60 ounces of water each day
  • go to bed 15 minutes earlier
  • get up 15 minutes earlier
  • read 10 pages of a book every day
  • clean the trash out of your car every evening
  • eat one salad per day
  • add fruit to your daily diet
  • walk 18 minutes each day (that equals one mile)
  • give away clothes you haven't worn in a year
  • clean out one drawer a week
  • write two handwritten thank you notes per day
  • tell your spouse you love him/her and why

Allyson's workshops are fast paced and personal. As you progress through her workshop you will be given over 100 “Seven Minute Ideas,” and tiny micro-actions designed to educate, motivate and encourage each participant.
